Hitting the road for the holiday season? Thousands of families across the country will do just that. The holidays are a great time to get together with family and friends. Taking the family car or truck can be a lot cheaper than flying. It's a nice way to travel, but safety must stay top of mind. Here are some road trip safety tips that you may want to follow .
Drive safe during the holidays...
As the driver, you should never have anything in your hands expect the steering wheeling. Eating, talking on the phone, texting and flipping through radio stations, can lead to distraction and accidents.
SPLIT THE TRIP:
It is always better to have at least one other driver to take turns with for longer trips. You can each drive for a few hours and then switch. This will help each driver stay fresh and sharp.
PLAN YOUR ROUTE:
In addition to using a hands-free GPS, you should also plan your trip in advance. Familiarize yourself with the route and check for possible road construction.
